They found that the life of a human is totally based on these chakras. This total science gave birth to Kundalini Yoga." Yogi Bhajan ------------------------------------------------------- Kundalini is untapped energy (prana) at the base of the spine that can be drawn up through the body awakening each of the seven chakra's; Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat and Brow and Crown. Kundalini Energy is often represented as a snake coiled at the base of the spine, Kundalini Yoga works on awakening the energy and bringing it up to the top. Thus working on all aspects of the body, spine, muscular, nervous system, endocrine system and more. Each Kundalini yoga class is done in conjunction with a specific breath exercise, which intensifies the effects of the poses with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body, allowing it to move up. Followed by a kriya that focuses on specific areas of the body and chakra. Ending with meditation including the use of chanted mantras, pranayama (breath control) and mundra (hand gesture) such as prayer pose bringing the hands together at the heart.
